Size of bag at 4L is perfect for a large enema. Don't have to fill it all the way if you want to go smaller. Downsides: Included tubing is not great, gets loose on the bag after a few uses. If you use warm water, tubing gets even softer and you feel like it's just going to come off the end of the bag if you aren't careful.
What is a large-volume enema? A large-volume enema is a way of putting fluid into the rectum and lower intestine to empty stool (poop). It has more fluid than an ordinary enema from the pharmacy. Enemas can treat constipation and fecal incontinence (soiling) or clean the bowel before a bowel test or surgery. How will I know which enema to use?
Take 2-3 enemas in a row or an enema series. Once your body tells you that it has taken enough enema solution, sit on the toilet, empty the contents of your colon, and repeat the process. To learn more, view our video How to Take a Large Volume Enema.
Using an Enema Bag: Spread out the large plastic bag on bathroom floor near the toilet, and put the old towel over it (for comfort). Remove the tip at the end of the hose and thoroughly wash it with soapy water. Rinse it well. Remove the hose from the bag and using a pitcher or funnel fill the bag with 2 1/2 cups of chlorine–free water.
At 6:00 p.m. Fill the Bag Enema with luke warm water. Be careful not to make the water too cold or hot. Place a towel on the floor between your toilet and shower to catch any water that may fall. Stand in your Shower and gently, insert the tube rectally. Allow all of the water from the bag to empty slowly. Try to hold as much water in as you can take.
An enema is the introduction of liquid, most often mineral oil, through the anus and into the large intestine. An enema may be given to treat constipation, to administer medication or barium, or as part of the procedure to empty the contents of the bowel before a test (such as a colonoscopy prep).
